Madhatters Liquid Lounge

Went out for lunch with my team today, and we were off to Madhatters. Seems like this is a really popular place with everyone. I personally feel their food is better than most bar and lounge out here, so no surprise I guess.

They offer quite an extensive menu for lunch and they all sound appetizing. Some dishes have pretty unique names as well, such as their Seizure Salad. Anyways, ended up ordering the Tandoori Chicken. Been a while since I had Indian, and my craving kicked in...

Another colleague ordered the same thing, but with frites instead of salad.

Up close...

The chicken itself was really tender and moist, and the mango chutney was delicious (too bad they didn't give enough for the 2 breasts that were served). However, the tandoori taste was missing big time! Not enough spice and not well marinated, and just a slight taste of spiciness, not good by any Indian standards.

Diurnal Pabulum: Roasted Chicken

Too lazy to cook tonight, and hungry after work...found a sacrificial offering in the form of a roasted chicken, from the nearby co-op store.

Price is on the high side compared to other stores (cheapest is Superstore by far), and taste and texture are below par as well (Superstore is again the winner....maybe the $ factor plays a factor into taste...haha). Too dry and bland for my palate.

Diurnal Pabulum: Drunken Chicken

Went for a farewell lunch with friends today at Cute Pearl down in Kerrisdale...mainly going for the bubble tea; sadly, I am not quite the fan.

Here's what Mr. W and Mr. L ordered...

Noodles in Satay Sauce

Noodles w/ broth (looks like instant noodles to me...haha)

But the fried chicken side dish...it was good~~

For me, the Drunken Chicken set...

The side dishes were all cold dishes - sauteed celery, pickled veggies, and spicy tofu - but they were really tasty. Somehow, I have this growing fondness for side dishes (Korean influence?). The main dish itself...poor...very little meat (the bony ribs were served), too salty, and no taste of the wine at all.
