Diurnal Pabulum: Drunken Chicken

Went for a farewell lunch with friends today at Cute Pearl down in Kerrisdale...mainly going for the bubble tea; sadly, I am not quite the fan.

Here's what Mr. W and Mr. L ordered...

Noodles in Satay Sauce

Noodles w/ broth (looks like instant noodles to me...haha)

But the fried chicken side dish...it was good~~

For me, the Drunken Chicken set...

The side dishes were all cold dishes - sauteed celery, pickled veggies, and spicy tofu - but they were really tasty. Somehow, I have this growing fondness for side dishes (Korean influence?). The main dish itself...poor...very little meat (the bony ribs were served), too salty, and no taste of the wine at all.

Jack Roasty

Had breakfast before saying goodbye to my fairlady...

She had the sweet French toast and egg

And I had the waffle and egg combo

Simple and affordable breakfast for those who don't have time to cook...or simply want a treat.

Juan's Mexican

Mexican for dinner tonight with the princess :)

The drink to start...Sangria

Nachos for appie...the salsa dipping is very unique, and likely homemade. More tangy and zesty than regular.

And the main meal - House Combo Platter...enchiladas with 3 different kinds of meat and sauce.

The refried beans and guacamole salad were delicious! Enchiladas didn't disappoint either....crispy shell, juicy fillings, melted cheese, topped with sapid sauce. Yum!

Kintaro Ramen

Heard about the raving reviews and brother's craving for ramen. Finally, we decided to go to Kintaro.

The appie - Japanese char siew

If you don't mind eating the cold lard entrained in the meat...Delicious it was :)

And now presenting the family of Ramen...the main difference being the soup base.

Except for this one unique Cheese Ramen!

Brother ordered this...crazy f00l! It sure was rich, but too cheesy for me, and totally killed the whole concept of ramen.

The noodles were good, almost like instant noodle, but upped a class :) The soup were tasty as well...hope it's not the MSG, but actual pork broth.

Definitely worth another visit.
