Shark's Club

Went for lunch with a few colleagues today, down at the Shark's Club, thanks to an invite from a friend of a friend. Everyone's especially hungry today, and most of us ordered entrees.

Here were what we ordered...One had the Butter Chicken

This dish looks really good...love how they present it. The thick and creamy curry sauce...gaaahhhh...if only I have 2 stomachs!

Another had the Clubhouse Sandwich with a side of soup

The sandwich looks normal, nothing special. As I was eating, I was thinking of ways to assemble a unique sandwich, something that will entice the eyes without one even smelling and tasting...like an inverted sandwich (bread sandwiched between layers of meat ;))

Personally, I picked the Chicken with Sambuca Prawn, along with a side salad. Although they call it tossed salad (like anywhere else), this one is actually pretty loaded...more like a chef's salad to me.

The salad was good...crisp greens with plenty of cheese and bacon :) The main dish though was the hilite. From the juicy prawns, to the tender chicken, drizzled with plenty of cream (sambuca) sauce...plus the extra jest from the diced peppers and veggies; I am gastronomically and palate-ly delighted!! Later I learnt that sambuca is actually a liqeur...whatever it is, it sure adds lots of goodness to the cream sauce.

Burger King

A good friend came over from Calgary today on a field visit, and we decided to go to BK he heads back to cowtown. BK...good memories from when we're both students in Calgary, munching away on their chicken sandwich over lunch. Either that or Bourbon Grill :)

BK was promoting their new chicken wraps recently, so ended up trying one.

It was supposed to be a spicy wrap, but there was barely any spiciness to it; guess it's catered to the locals, who don't like spicy food too much. Initially I had ordered for a grilled chicken, but after taking it back twice (for they had given me a crispy chicken on both occasions!), I just chomped it down with grace.

Badass Jack Subs & Wrap

Have never seen this chain around Vancouver, must be a local thing. Reviewed the menu online before trying it for lunch one day, and it looks promising :) (for a quick bite over lunch)

Menu:

The place offers "Asian Boxes" as well, but I never fancy those in any fast food joint, unless I am in Antarctica and a sudden crave for Chinese food kicks in...but that's a different story for a different day.

Ordered the wraps I did. One Chicken Caesar and one custom made (you get to pick the carb, protein and fibre in it...neat idea!).

Chicken Caesar Wrap

Wrap was decently portioned for the price, and the taste is so-so, nothing to shout about. One thing I like is that they put the right amount of dressing (sometimes too much just makes a caesar wrap soggy ya), but I guess that depends on the wrap artist. Also, more chicken would make this much much better for a meatarian like me.

As I had to work after work, ordered another one for later - Roast beef, chinese egg noodle, honey garlic and mixed veggies.

Again, portion was perfect, but too much noodles, kinda made me full after 3/4 of the wrap.

Golden Star Restaurant

All-day meeting at the office today, and food to be served for lunch. To my surprise, it wasn't pizzas or subs this time, it's chinese food! This will be my 1st time in GP having chinese food from outside.

There were a total of 4 trays - fried noodles in cream sauce with prawns, stir fry veggie with beef, , fried rice, and of course the ever popular sweet and sour pork.

So here's what I had...

The sweet and sour pork, and stir fry veggie were ok, nothing special. Fried rice...is just fried rice, lacking lots of ingredients. And the dish of the day goes to...noodles and prawns!
The cream sauce is quite rich, and the prawns are crystal crisp, and big...the way prawn should be! The only downside is the noodles, which were meant to be crispy (since they were fried), but turned out soggy. It would probably work better if they had kept it separate and mix it when meal is ready.

Really filling meal, which keeps me going all through the meeting (contrary to what my other colleagues had to say :))

I was told after the meal that Golden Star is one of the top chinese restaurant in GP, definitely give it another try in the future.

Landmark BBQ

Instead of going with the regular place to get our soy chicken, bro decided to go for the one in Landmark BBQ. It's usually more expensive, but on special today.

Taste wise, it's sweeter than the usual (which I prefer), and the meat is really silky and tender. Definitely worth the $!

Lunch before the movies (Blue Gold!) at the popular Jang Mo Jib.

Stir fried rice noodle with beef...

Spicy seafood hot pot

My favourite dishes...banchan!

More of 'em...

Grilled mackerel for protein boost!

A little pricey, and not much difference in taste to other comparable Korean restaurants.

Diurnal Pabulum: Breakfast Snack

Didn't have time to have proper breakfast, but I just like eating too much to miss a meal. Snacks time!

Ahh...the goodness of cheese - soft and dairy-licious...brings back fond childhood memories.

This bar ain't good...should've went with sweet and salty. Taste was ok, but texture was surprisingly unpleasant - slight chewiness and too gritty.
